DIGITAL RADIO

Digital radio also known as radio technologies and these carry information as a digital signal. The digital signal covers both broadcasting by radio and two-way communications. DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) has been used to identify the generic technology of digital audio broadcasting.

Radio as a medium is increasing everywhere, Listeners love their local station and they participate in their community station and they regularly tune into their favourite stations. They move seamlessly from commercial to BBC radio and, through the ease with which radio has been distributed on multiple platforms, listeners have taken radio into the digital world in many ways ahead of its sister broadcasting medium, television.

At present only around 85% of the UK can receive DAB, with the BBC inching its way towards its target of 90%. But even those who can get it can only listen to the stations on the two national and their regional offerings.

COMPATIBILITY - this is whether a certain thing is compatible to something. eg. on a mobile phone, if the mobile is a vodafone based phone, it cannot have an o2 sim card.


STORAGE - The permanent or non permanent place that holds digital data.


MINIATURISATION - This is to reduce the scale of a certain item


DIGITAL -Describes any system based on discontinuous data or events.


CONNECTIVITY -The ability to use an electronic network to send and receive information between any locations or devices.


SYNERGY - The combination of two different media texts or products that have similar characteristics so that one helps the other sell more.

Task 1

PORTABILITY - This is the ability of it being able to be taken from one place to another easily and be able to keep in your pocket without any hassle.

CONVERGENCE - This is how films and new media technology has been able to link up together and how the computer systems have been able to merge to be able to do that.

INTERACTIVITY - Allowing auser to interact with a website or element within a website also, a website has to be interactive to be able to be accessed. Also it is how people can understand the new media technologys and can communicate through these.
